Selection Committee The selection committee consists of three (3) members. Canada Games Triathlon Team Head Coach, Manager and a TNS delegate. Eligibility All athletes must hold a valid 2009 TNS license. All athletes must be a resident of Nova Scotia as outlined in Appendix 1 of the 2009 Triathlon Technical Package All athletes must be at least 16 years of age and no older then 20 years of age as of Dec 31st 2009. This includes those athletes born between Jan 1 1989 and Dec 31st 1993. Selection Criteria Canada Games Selection Information Briefing on Nov 15th 2008 from 2 – 3pm. Team Selection Camp Dates: Dec 20-21 Canada Games Core Team Selection Camp 1 Feb 28- Mar 1 Canada Games Core Team Selection Camp 2 May 9th 2009 – Canada Games Core Team Day Camp - All athletes must meet all three minimum time standards outlined in the table below at one of the 2008/2009 winter selection camps.
- Time standards may be re-attempted. Only athletes who have attempted the time standards and failed to meet them by less then 5%, may attempt them again at the third camp.
- Time standards may be divided up over each of the camps. ie. not all three standards must be attempted at the same camp.
- Applications to attempt the time standards on alternate dates must be submitted to the Canada games Head Coach by Dec 15th 2008. Alternate dates must fall between the first and second camp. Approval for alternate dates will only be granted for exceptional circumstances. Final determination of exceptional circumstance rests with the Canada games Coach and Manager.

The team will be selected from the best two (2) out of three (3) results at the following races (top two (2) percentages will be added together): - Navy Tridents Triathlon 31 May 09;
- Ingonish Heart of the Highlands Jun 09, and;
- Greenwood Airforce Triathlon Jun 09.

Men’s times and women’s times will be calculated separately. In the event of a tie, results from all three races will be considered. If this fails to settle a tie, a 750m swim off will be held. Appeals Committee The appeals committee for selection races will be consist of two(2) members from the TNS Board of Directors; Kevin Doran and Pat MacDonald. Appeals process During the selection races, all race protests must be done at the event with the Head Triathlon Technical Delegate, in consultation with the Appeals Committee (mentioned above). Protests must follow the TNS appeals procedure and be submitted within one (1) hour of the last finisher. Appeals not settled by the Head Technical Delegate and Appeals Committee will be directed to the Canada Games Appeals committee |
